scrapyard tranny
I wanted to convert my 82s auto to a 5 or 6 speed. if i was to go to a junk yard, scrap yard auto heaven.... whatever you want to call it, what would be the things to look for? And around how much are we talking here? Its getting donated to an automotice class for the rest of the semester so i need to get them the parts.

You could rob everything from a 5 speed 83-92 third gen Camaro or Firebird (T5 5 speed), or a later 93-97 with a T56 6 speed. You'll need an aftermarket flywheel for the T56 though, if your engine is original and has the 2 piece rear main seal. You can get a GM flywheel for the T5. If you have any plans for lots of HP, I'd go with the T56. For either setup, try:
