Default Sand paper question

I'm hoping to take a week off next week to paint my 79. I'm going with 1) epoxy sealer 2) hi-build primer 3) bc and 4) cc. From my readings, since I'm pretty satisfied with my last blocking of 400 wet/dry, I shouldn't have any sanding between the epoxy and first couple of primer coats. My questions are what grits of wet/dry to expect to use on the primer and then between coats of cc?

TIA

Base coat will fill 400 grit scatches easily. There is no need to sand between the base and clear coats as long as you shoot them within the recommended flash time. Why don't you just wet sand and buff the clear?

What I should have said is that once you start spraying the first coat of base, there is no need to sand until you're ready to wet sand and buff the clear.

I like to start sanding the clear with 1500 and then 2000 grit. it cuts down on the amount of buffing required. don't rush the high build, you should really wait a few days for it to off gas completeley before you start blocking it or you may get some shrinkage and the sand scratches will show. I don't know if you can do it all in one week. good luck

Question, If you already blocked the car, why are you going to put high build primmer on? You will need to block it again before you base coat it. I use 600 grit but 400 is also OK. I then seal it (no sanding) Base coat (no sanding) and than clear. Nib the clear with 1500,2000, and 3000.
Then buff it up to a nice high shine. Get the data sheet for your paint from the internet which will tell you the steps you need to follow.

Hope this helps,
Danny

I don't know what color you painting but if its metalized make sure your foundation is scratch free, The metal particles will fill the scratches and evidently show up as lines in the paint. I suggest if using metalized paint to wet sand 400 and then finish 600. if your doing a solid color disregard all of this.

I used brand name "Glasurit" two pack paint on mine and it does not need clear coating due to the quality of the paint. In my opinion clear coat is not the best option, if the clear coat chips the color underneath which is not as shiny reflects differently.
My painting friend with 40 years experience explained this to me and I can see the difference.
