Those of us in the northern regions who have stored away our cars for the winter months, I was wondering. When was the last time you started your car. ???
For me, the cars were put to bed last October and they have not been started since, which is normal for them. Won't be started until at least the end of March, even though they are sitting in our heated garage.
I usally start it every month or so just to oil everything. I take a run in my driveway a few times,so the transmission and rear end get lubricate and brakes dont seize. Make sure to have the engine reaching is normal temperature before shutting it down.Thats help drying the exaust pipes. Im doing it for the last 18 years. No problems so far.

Luckily,..I live in the south. It was in the upper 60's yesterday and suposed to hit low 70's today. I drive my car at least once a week ALL year long. We never get any snow and there is never any salt on the roads. I still try to keep her out of the rain though.

I start and move my '71 about every other weekend, letting it run at least 30 minutes to ensure any moisture in the crankcase and exhaust is evaporated.
Last Sunday was sunny and around 50* with dry clean roads, and my 15 year old and I actually took it out for about a 20 mile cruise.
Ran Great!
The '88 gets out at least every other week or so in the winter.
Last week. Put about 75 miles on it. Roads dry & clean. Now we have snow again so it will stay in rhe garage untill the snow is gone & the roads are clean.
I also start it at least once a month and let it run to operating temp, charge the battery and so on.
I put mine away last Noverber. I use fogging oil on the motor (same thing with the boat) and remove the battery. Then I place plastic on the floor under it and put the car on wheel dolleys. Just waiting until spring.

It goes away in October and is not started until I comes home in April-May. Why start it monthly and risk a "dry" (oil drained down) start monthly vs once in the spring.

If you start it frequently enough, there will be no "OIL DRAINED DOWN" and you will keep your battery fresh as well.........
