Default Dash Advice

My 81 has been quietly resting in the shop and I now have some time to work on it. I have the windshield out from some repairs I made last fall and now I am ready to put it back in, but I figure now is the time to replace the dash. Who makes the best one for the job?

i found CorvetteAmerica.com has good quality products. Also products i've got from others were actually from Corvette America but sold by a vendor who CA was outsourcing to.So they evidently are a wholesale supplier also. I've read several posts on thier quality too and all were good. My only complaint about them is at times in thier webpage search engine i had to do several different searches to finally find a particular part or product, usually unusual items. In other words it was just hard to navigate on certain items. My door panels were from CA and they were better structurally than original IMO, had a moisture barrier built in.There are other vendors i won't mention that i'll never deal with again.

Ask each vendor who manufacturers the part you are after. Very few companies are actually making parts for these cars, but lots of vendors sell the exact same part from the same manufacturer for very different prices.

CA makes a lot of the parts sold at some of the larger vendors. ACC makes almost all the carpet kits sold. And so on....

Ive ordered parts about 9 times since xmas from several different companies, by picking the lowest price 7 out of the 9 times the parts came in a corvette america box, i love their fast shipping but i still order the lowest price hoping my order comes from them. Heres an example mounted seats ordered from last detail 518 dollars they came from corvette america which had a price of 590 dollars.

yes justasbad, i ordered quite a few things from The Last Detail which were Corvette America products & also original GM parts and during my restoration they were the best price going.Somehow i never saw Al Knoch during that time but have heard alot of good reviews about thier products.During my restoration i tried a few vendors.I have found a good use for Ecklers & Corvette Central catalogs when they come. They make excellant platters for putting frsh fried foods on for drainage
