76 replacement carpet
Also does anyone have any suggestions for a good online retailer I should buy the carpet from?
any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Installing is best done on a warm sunny day where you can lay the carpet out in the sun to warm up. It makes it easier to lay down and form.
You will need to do trimming on all pieces so just go really slow. Measure twice or even three times, before cutting. Always take off less than you think you need to and test fit it again and trim in small bits so you don't trim off too much.
The carpet should have heat insulation backing, but I would also consider laying down some Dynamat or Damplifier to help with road noise.
Finally, I personally like to use 3M 90 spray glue to keep everything down and smooth looking, but you don't have to glue if you don't want to. If you go slow, take your time, be patient, and do ti right...it'll all stay down the way it's supposed to.
You can use the old carpet for a template if you like, but I like to test fit and trim the carpet IN the car so I can make it fit the way I see it as best.
The insulation should already be glued to the back of the carpet. It's up to you if you want to gluer the back of that to the floor, and not all of your carpet will have insulation and you sure don't HAVE to glue any of it down.
