Default replace the Plenum Valve or actuator?

the plenum valve is stuck openon my 79, so my blower motor and fan stay exposed and draw outside air all the time. makes it hard to cool south texas air. my guess is the actuator is bad or the hose is off or clogged. my question is how do you service this?

I guess what I want to know is since the valve is open and it always draws outside air. any concerns if you permantly close it so it only draws air from the cabin?

Not that I can think of, but since the fan is outside that door it wouldn't draw anything.

When using your defroster you will need fresh air to defog the windows. Trust me its no fun when it raining out, your inside windows are all fogged up and cant see what's in front of you. If you don't drive your car in rain or cold weather...typical conditions that fog your windows, you might not have an issue.

this is one vette-a-holic who has a hangover. I had no idea what I was going to be consumed with a love hate relationship. This vette has no vaccum system connected to the defroster or vent, no hot water valve, nothing, just AC with a fan that draws hot air into the AC condenser...so, I appreciate the council and will close that plenum valve for good and not drive in bad weather.

The guy that sold me this vette saw me coming a mile away. Only good thing is that I have learned a lot more this way than if I bought a fully restored vette.
