Grant makes direct bolt on which is the way to go.
This shows them incl. the Mahogany wood direct bolt on sold by the Corvette parts venders.

I put the similar Grant (791) polished al./black leather on the 77 several years ago. It has polished slotted spokes & a shallower dish which moves it closer to the dash. Nice, direct bolt on about 13 1/2". Ideal, esp. if one is tall.

A M-A catalog by my computer shows about $100 leather-$140 Mahogany for the direct bolt on. I have used the ones w/ adapters on other cars- I would not use those that need an adapter on a Corvette.
