Default 72 shifter **** help

Hi there,

I have 72 standard that has a Hurst shifter stick and ****. I was given an original black chrome **** that I would like to use instead of the white hurst ****. The challange is getting the 9/16th - 18 thread of the original **** to mate with the 3/8 course thread of the hurst stick. Anyone know if I can get some sort of thread adapter and if so, from where? I tried Karbelt, Performance Improvements, etc. No luck. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks, Paul

The Corvette vendors have a shifter assembly that will bolt up to the Hurst linkage....no reverse lockout, but it has a false spring mechanism like the real thing......

Although not free, the install is easy

thanks standup. I did see those, but I think they were like $90. That's an expensive "free" **** (although, it would be nice and shinny).
Thanks again, paul

If you have access to a drill press, make your own adapter.

Find a 9/16 -18 bolt and drill down through the center.
Then tap with a 3/8 tap and cut it to the right length. Shouldn't be that hard

Great idea!!!

I think my brother has the drill press and tap. Canadian Tire should have the bolt. You the man! THX!
