Scissors Lift
Let us know what you find out about the scissor lift. Trying to remember which magazine I read...hotrod maybe, about a month ago they had a big article on lifts and showed pros and cons for each type. Pretty good stuff. If you are interested let me know and I'll look for it and you can read it online.
At the moment I have 2 lifts. One is a mid-rise scissor lift and the other is a 4-post. Most of the work was done on the mid-rise, but only because I didn't have the 4 post lift at the time. Both have their benefits, but I'll take the 4 post anyday over the other. It's just so easy. With the mid-rise I still have to use a creeper, but it still beats the hell out of spending 20 minutes putting the car on jackstands. The only real benefit to that lift is just how fast you can get the car up in the air. Other than that, there's not much to it. Also, there's very limited access to the center area of the car due to the main cross beam.
When I bought my 4 post lift, I also purchased a hand operated sliding hydraulic jack to use when I want to take the tires off. The main runways have not been a problem as far as getting in the way when I'm working. This past weekend, a buddy brought his C6 over and we put a FULL exhaust system on the car. It would have been a nightmare without the lift. I didn't buy the 4-post for the extra storage room, but I can always park another car under there if I need to.
Also, I looked into 2-post lifts for quite a while and decided against it for a couple of reasons. First I didn't trust the strength of my concrete. Secondly, I didn't want to drill holes in the floor for the anchor bolts. Third, I didn't really like the thought of having to get on my knees every time I wanted to raise the car to set the jacking pucks. And lastly, a two post lift is pretty much a permanent fixture. I can move my 4-post wherever I want to in just a couple of minutes.
For me - The 4 post lift wins hands down.

I have the BendPak midrise. Works great and has a few advantages the post ones do not.

I have had it for a couple of years. It has pair for itself, since I do some of my own work on seven used vehicles. I think it was about $1550 delivered. For my personal situation this was the way to go and I would buy the same one again.
Best tool i ever bought.

you might take a look at it. These guys absolutely love their kwiklifts
And, it is made in America, not china. something to consider....

not a corvette but there is a midrise under there
You'd be fine with an 8' ceiling - If necessary, you could drop it down one safety lock.

BTW - A Kwiklift does not a scissor lift make. Sorry.
