Here is a pic of my rear deck
I used the wooden box, added 6x9's, the amp, emblem and the carpet. fits the theme of the car.

Trust me with the set-up that DB is talking about. He helped me install this set-up in my ’74 and it totally rocks out. It’s hard to grasp until you sit in it and hear the amazing sound just coming from the kick panels and the single sub in the back. Sure was a hot summer day installing it, but it was all worth it.

Thanks DB!

Wow it WAS a hot day man, I couldn't get that fan close enough. The beer was good and cold though.

Ok I am sold. I already have a Alpine head unit.I would like to go with a sub but the nitrous bottle is already in the back and my ignition box is in the storage space. Also I have already spent money on 6x9s for the rear and dash speakers for the frt all by infinity. So this has to be on the cheap and small because space is at a premium.I will still need room for the ttops so a sub might be out of the formula. If you look at my pictures you can see where my nitrous bottle is.If I didn't go with a sub,do you still think my audio would sound better with just two kick panel speakers and a small amp?Boy I hope the wife doesn't see me removing all those speakers I whined about getting

Okay, front speakers, an amp, and an install kit.

No offense intended, but I suspect it did not sound good to you because your front speakers are not of high quality. Pioneer has some low quality stuff for good prices.

Not debating, just curious about the models of speakers you're using.

Default Great Stuff

Hey Guys;

I think I'm going to put those Polk Speaker in the door panels. Right now there are Kenwood's in the dash and Rear. They seem decent. My biggest problem was & is the original Stock Radio. Even though I had it refurbished (making sure the tape deck worked & everything) it still sounds like crap. What a surprise, it's 26 Years old!

I see some "Replacement" units in the catelogs (Ecklers, Mid-Amer. & alike) that resemble stock units but have "upgrade" "Guts". I'd Like to know what you guys have heard (No pun intended) about those.
So here are the questions.

1. For just slightly above average sound, Should I replace the unit with something like what I described above. or Leave the stock unit in disconect it and put a better unit into the Passenger side storage bin with the "Small" amp. The Big Problem I see with this since 90% of the time when I drive it, I'm loaded with Show Ramps, Display Signage, Chairs, Cleaning Materials Etc. Trust me I am NOT getting into that Bin. so it would have to have a remote

2. Also I'm assuming a "small" amp could actually drive six speakers. I'm thinking I'll tied the dash & the door together as left & right Front, then have the Rear as Rear even though I can't hear them most of the time with the stuff piled high.

Thanks for the input. Great Thread,

Gerry In CT

Considering that you are not "original" with your engine, why stick with the original looking radio? Just curious.

i dont want to get into the debate about all fronts vs fronts and rears, but i much prefer fronts and rears.

im sitting here with a 5.1 setup on my computer, nice high quality speakers (logitech Z680s with an optical connection) and ive always got it set on 2x stereo. fronts and rears always playing. everything about it sounds better, and it sounds like im in the middle of it all. exact same thing ive found with my car speakers.

Default No Particular reason

I'm sort of "Easing" into to "Personalized Stock" (zero to five changes) type of thang. I was a "Old School" Everything should stay stock type of guy, on previuos cars. But we all know about the c-3's immisions stuff and less than great performance, so I went with what I'll call a "Sleeper" style with this car.

When it's closed up it "looks" stock, then Open the hood and "Bling" !!!

Or you could fire it up and the sound gives it away.

The car is a work in process. I'm not quite sure how "stock" or "Custom" I want to go. I'm leaning towards "Tastfully Personalized" and stuggleing to keep from getting too radical on things.

It's a dual Personality thing. No it isn't, Yes it is, No it isn't. . .

It's all fun & Money!
