Really nice work on that 74 vert. The paint is really popping in the sun.
A friend on mine put a bumper on his 74 that he got from ecklers. He did a lot of shaving to make it fit.
we just assembled the front suspension....and at this point..i think i could write a book on the do's and dont's...the potential problems and pitfalls and the "must do's" if youre going to tackle a project like this...
the first "DO" is have a mattress full of money - the first "DON'T" is to tell your wife how much youve spent.....
the color is the original "medium red" or code 974 or 74L on trim tag - we found the original paint under the convertible deck lid and had the computer match it...then we added and subtracted till we got it as close as possible and/or what we liked....
this car is medium red with silver interior (deluxe) (code 407) and is the only LS4 convertible ive ever seen these colors - had a white top...but i think i prefer a black top for this car....
ill upload pics of the front suspension asap and will continue to upload pics as we progress....
the rear bumper cover from ecklers is horrendous (sp?) - bad bad bad...we have more hours in it than any other part of the car (except the upper surround) - i bought a NOS rear bumper cover for the car that had been in someone's attic all these years...the first attempt at putting it on the car and it basically fell apart in my hands....$3000 down the drain....what was i thinking?
the ecklers cover wasnt even close out of the box...and the indentations for the "CORVETTE" letters across the back were really bad....so we filled them and made it smooth....i will later drill holes(left them on the backside) for the letters and just let them still higher without the indents....that way it will still have its distinctive "split tail" look....

Good thinking but aren't you worried the letters will protrude too much?

There was a guy in my town who had a 74 convertible medium red silver leather and a white top. The car was a 454 automatic and no air. He bought the car in 1975.
OK....WELL...we now know there is two out there....thank goodness my car is a highly optioned 4 speed car (m-20) and does have a.c. - also has hardtop, ps., pb., pw., tilt - tele, shoulder belts and deluxe interior....(have i left anything out)....wonder how many medium red silver interior 4 speed cars there are out there! HAHA
