My console side panels will be put on correctly and also finally get my pillar strip clips so i can get that peice of stripping on monday. The next thing I would like to address is my squeeks, i have a few clangs, but i think thats from having a bunch of crap in behind my seats like wrenches. I have tried pushing down on the rear/front to make it squeek with no sucess. I didnt want to sit on it because its urethane bumper and didnt want to mess with it to bad.
I mainly get squeeks if I hit a bump while going say 30 or so, some bumps dont do it though, its strange.
my bushing also look pretty dead, and will probably be one of my next things to do. but is could it be shocks or my springs or anything?
I dont know to much about suspsensions so any help or any tips to locate said squeek or squeeks would be greatly appreciated.
i apologiz e for any grammer mistakes first day of spring reak and needless ot say how it went ;p
Squeaks over bumps at speed...my guess is that's the body. What kind of shape are your body mount bushings in? If they haven't ever been replaced, they're likely collapsed.
mounts are a possibility, but my money would ce control arm bushings. I have never has a shock squeek, but have seen a couple springs squeek in the mount cups
Body mounts are a pita, you have to disconnect all the connections between the frame and body, lift one side at a time and replace the mounts and hope the #2'd don't pull out a donut sized hole when you lift it. The control arms are somewhat a Pite, but I have done so many its easy now. Safety first, watch that spring, use a spring compressor, it will eat your lunch.
If you want details let me know
sounds fun, how can i tell which problem it is? or do i just have to guess?
and my friend has a ceiling mounted engine lift that can easily handle my body (did for a 57 chevy body so i can probably do my whole car). would that make body mounts easier?
I had a squeek in my 82 that turned out to be the rear leaf spring.....sprayed a lot of wd40 on it and all kinds of crap came out of it.....no more squeek.
