Does anyone know what the type of black paint came on 1977 aluminum wheels? Was it glossy, semi-gloss? Also does anyone know what can be used to seal the inside surface of the rim to prevent pin-hole air leaks?

We always used a semi-gloss paint on the wheels. I don’t know what is judged correct though, you might wan to contact NCRS and see what they say is correct.
You can seal the wheels by painting them on the inside with quality paint.

Richard Prince Restorarion Guide states 77 alum wheels were unpainted...but good idea to paint inside to seal...
My 78 came with center section painted black (Semi-gloss) with slots natural finish...think 79 was same..

Purchased an early '77 new that came with the aluminum wheels. The center and the slots were painted a dull black. The wheel was unpolished and without clear-coat. One of the first things I did was polish the natural aluminum finish with a Dremel and Simichrome polish. They looked terrific...
