Does the concentrated degreaser you can buy from ... well everywhere... work very well? I've allways just used the stuff in an aresol can, but I was wondering if I can get one of those big ol' gallon jugs and dilute it into a spray bottle.

Work as well, or no?

My all time favorite degreaser is brake clean. I have used simple green and a few other but was never really happy with them. The best is brake clean in bulk. Just put it in a sure shot can add air and go.

I like purple power and cherry power. Both seem to work pretty well for me. This is cherry power, a wire brush and an hour.

Be careful with brake cleaner, some of them will actually take off paint.

I will also say that Purple Power is fantastic for getting nasty grime off. Don't dilute it, put it in a spray bottle, and go to town.

I found that using it in conjunction with brake cleaner made for a quick and easy clean up.

I use brake cleaner for everything, even getting grease and oil off of paint, and Purple Power is for the heavy grime.

Oh, Autozone brand brake cleaner is the best. It leaves almost no residue, it's high volume high pressure makes for a good hard spray, and there is a lot of it in the large cans.

Brake clean can take paint off but normally it only efects spray paint. That can be very helpful if someone got creative and spray painted things they shoulnt have never painted. It will also take grease out of light gray cloth seats (don't ask how I know).

Where can you get Purple Power? I am cleaning the undercarriage of my car and I am using Simple Green and although it's an OK degreaser, I am always on the lookout for something better.... I only use brake cleaner for smaller things.

I Use Naptha.....after Using It, I Just Store It, And It Cleans Itself. For The Next Job. (mineral Sprits Will Work The Same). For Tough Jobs That Require Pressure Washing I Just Mix A Wetting Agent With It ....spray It On....let It Set....wash It Off. (zep Brand)

It's widely available at places like Advance, Autozone, Wal-Mart...tio name a few. Find a website and I'll bet you can find all kinds of retailers that sell it. Ace also sells it.

DB,

Thanks. I'll take a look-see the next time I go by one of those places.

Next time you go to Walmart look for Super Clean. It used to be Castrol Super Clean, now it's just called Super Clean. Nothing cleans like it, just protect your skin from exposure to it and stay upwind of it when spraying it. I soak everything I want cleaned with it, let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then hit it with the pressure washer and it comes out spotless. Be careful not to get it on painted surfaces that you don't want the paint removed from, this stuff doesn't fool around.
