Default Holley Carb

I see several used 650's on ebay for low prices. I am a believer in you get what you pay for. What could be wrong with a used carb that would make it not such a great deal? I would plan on rebuilding the carb is there other things I need to be worried about?

I got a great deal on a used 650 off e-bay. The seller claimed it only had 600 miles on it, and after popping the float bowls off I could believe it.

I think a lot of guys buy an aftermarket carb, bolt it on right out of the box, and expect it to be perfectly set up for their particular engine. If it doesn't perform right, they pop it off, throw the old one back on, and all the rest of us have a great e-bay auction to bid on.

The feller who had mine had a "hot" mustang fastback. The Holley was waaaay overjetted for what he said he had. Instead of just buying new jets and squirters, redoing the timing on the pump cams, etc....., he let me steal it.

Go into the purchase with your eyes open. You can buy a piece of junk off e-bay, but you can buy a piece of junk at a swap meet too.
