Default Seat Belt Problem

I am installing 94 F body seat belt in my 74. I have searched all of the seat belt threads and am not sure what I am doing wrong. The right side retractor points to the center counsel. It looks like retractor is to wide when bolted in. Any thoughts on what I might be missing?

I think you are using too old of F-body belts, and also, you are supposed to use the rear belts. Do you have the rears or the fronts?

I have the rears. They came out of a 4th gen and to be honest I think it was about a 94 but maybe a 95. I didn't really look at the year but know it was around there because I was drooling over the LT1 and 6 speed.

I seem to remember that when I looked into F-body seat belts, I was told to look for the last Gen Camaro belts, as in the '01 area version.

There's a stud on the wheel well just forward of the bolt hole that may be interfering with positioning. I flattened the positioning stub on my retractors.

Whats the difference between them? Early vs. late?

I had to elongate/slot the hole in the retractor mounting plate so that I could get them to line up straight with the back of the trim panel, especially the passenger side.

Wont that weaken the mount? I am doing the swap for the safety of my son and wife (had lap belts only before).

This thread has lots of photos and info on doing the Camaro belt install. I made this change on my 71' and didn't have to change anything except widen the slot in the plastic trim panel where the belt comes through.

Thanks for the pictures. I was concerned about the angle of the retractors, but now I know that it will look and fit fine once I buy the covers.

Ok so its all done now and I sat down and buckled in. The seatbelt seems very short. some of the threads I have read say it will give you more room than factory. I have mine attached on the B post instead of going threw the seat like many. My lower anchor point is the factory retractor bolt. Any thoughts on that?

Did you buy the F-Body REARS or FRONTS (you need the rears)? Originally I had mine going around the seat also and even with the seat all the way back, it had plenty of length.

I bought rears for sure (I pulled them myself). Don't get me wrong I have enough room myself. I am more worried about having a bigger friend get in the car.

You should worry if the girl getting in is bigger than you...

How did I know that was coming. I don't have to worry about that. My wife is not over weight and she won't let me have a girlfriend. So no chance of having an over weight woman in the car.
