I would like to hear from folks who are currently running Allen's chambered side pipes. I have heard the way they sound and I love them. I have a couple of questions.
Do they rob HP like the original sidepipes?
They seems to have 3 versions of these with different inside pipes. What's best for street drivng?
I would like the most open one if they are not louder than flow master mufflers.
BTW: People at Allen's are a bunch of good people. I spoke with Jim who was tremendously helpful with my questions.
I ha d the chambered sidepipes on my 73.The sound was good and in town was good but on the highway a little loud.I took them off and put 2 1/2 pipes and dynomax mufflers on my 73.The pipes from the exhaust manifolds were 2in.and I think they were to small for my LS1. When I was out on the highway it seemed I was driving into a headwind.I still have sidepipes and would like to sell them. The sidepipes have square tips like on the 69-70 pipes.Charlie
I know Mike Allen personally. He is a good guy and makes a good product. He won't steer you wrong on a exhaust .The sidepipes I had were for a L48.Good luck with your exhaust,Charlie.
TT73,
I didn't realize the Chambered Pipe side exhaust now had the square tips. At first they didn't. This makes them a nice option for someone trying for a stock 69 look.
Regards,
Alan
