Default carpet problems

Hi all, I've got a 73, and I'm installing new carpet. I'm working on the back side pieces, and I'm having a hell of a time. I don't want to start cutting and screw it up. ANY HELP. I did the front floor pcs. installed no problem, but the back sides are giving me a tough time.....ALSO, the 3 compartment doors, HOW do I get the old carpet off.

I fought the exact same problem in my '68 with my Wilcox carpet. Every piece fit fine except the wheel well carpet. I went ahead and glued it down best I could and haven't really thought about it since. I think the mold that the manufacturer uses is not correct and causes the poor fit.
You'll have to remove the door compartment completely and disassemble it to get the old carpet off. It's not too bad. Once you get the frame off, just pull each door and take the plastic surround off. Then just pull the old carpet off, clean the wood and glue on the new piece.

Sperkins...well done! I did mine about a year ago and all I can tell you is to take your time and if you get frustrated take a break. You dont need to cut...I wanted to do the same but if you tuck it and use some good 3M glue in key spots you will be able to make it work.

Good luck and post some pics when you finish.

I'm having the same problem with my vert. It refuses to properly conform to the wheel wells in the back. All of the other carpeting fits perfectly. Sperkins, yours looks great. I have the storage compartment out and carpeting installed on it. It's just the darn wheel wells that are driving me to drink -------- more.

Can you add some extra padding under the problem area so it will fit better?
