Default First attempt at posting pics

This is my first stab at posting pictures here. If they come up, it's a '77 Vette, bought it last April. So far I've replaced ball joints, wheel bearings, control arm bushings, new carb, new distributor, altenator, new tires, new brakes, water pump, belts, fan clutch, shocks, heater and radiator hoses, fuel lines, valve guide seals, and a few other odds and ends. It's been a learning experience for my wife and I. I still need to replace or repair the radiator (small leak), and fix the vacuum to the headlights. They work but have to manually open and close them. I bought the car from a lady that had inherited it from her parents, and she had no interest in it. The body, motor and tranny are in very good shape, so now it's mostly just finishing up a few cosmetics. I paid 6K for it, and have about 9 in it now, but that's OK, didn't buy it for an investment, strictly for enjoyment, and the wife and I are getting plenty of that. Aggravating at times, but well worth it when we go for a Sunday cruise. It's basically a stock L48, except for headers and duals, automatic. Somewhere down the road I may swap the engine for a crate with a little more umph, but for now it's fine.

Very nice. I love my '77 too.

It seems you have a red dash, white door panels, and late C3 wheels.

Got any plans besides the crate engine? Wheel and tire change?

Almost forgot, here's the motor. It looked pretty rough when we first brought it home. Dirt dobbers everywhere. Even had a birds nest under the hood. Car had sat for five years, unused. I cleaned it up and added the chrome and aluminum parts and did a little painting. It looks a sight better than it did when we started.

It does have white door panels. They could use replacing. I'll probably go with all red interior. The carpet is red, but the door panels, seats, and trim are white. Did it come this way, or did some previous owner make some changes??? The dash is red also. I'm assuming these are the stock wheels that came on the car, but not sure. A set of old style Keystone mags might look good.

The interior is not stock, an to my knowledge, a two tone interior was not offered in '77. Also, the rims come from a '78 or later Vette when they changed from rally rims to the alloy slotted rims you have.

Aluminum wheels were an option in 1977 RPO YJ8, $321.00 additional and 12,646 cars were equipped with them.

Does anyone know if there's a way to trace the history of these cars through the VIN?? I know who owned it from 1995 to the present, but don't know who had it for the previous 18 years.

Anyone know if it's possible to trace the owner history on these cars? I live in a fairly small town, and although I lived away for 20 years, it would be great to know who purchased the car new.
