For those of you that have a factory hardtop vert post 68, I have a question on the hole for the center, rear locator pin. Is the deck fitting for this hole just one of the threaded bolts that you put in the two side holes to secure the hardtop? I think there is also a gasket and nut holding it from the bottom of the deck lid. This seems to be what is indicated at Doc Rebuild. i've also seen cars like this but don't know if there is a stock fitting.
Vert? Do you mean convertible? When it runs real smoothly while going down the highway do you call it a purr-vert?
Humor aside the center hardtop hole on the deck lid is there when the car was ordered with a factory hardop. There would also be a hole on each inside lip of the deck lid for the two chrome hardop bolts. The hardtop has a threaded bolt in the center that went into the hole and then a washer or two was supplied with a large wing nut to tighten it down. The other two holes on the deck lid surface had latch pin receivers that both soft top male pins latches into. When the hardtop was stored and the soft top was used extensively the center hole in the deck lid used a stainless steel snap-in cap that was inserted into the stainless steel ferrule.
That center bolt on the hardtop was added sometime during the '69 model year...apparently due to water seal issues. My '69 was assembled on February 20 and does not have the center hole in the rear deck, and it came from the factory with both the hardtop and soft top.

Thanks guys. I think that this confirms that the center fitting is the same, threaded bolt that is used in the outer two as I have seen these snap caps that you're talking about for these. I've also seen these fittings used but never on a car that was confirmed as coming from the factory with a hard top.
The center hold down bolt is inserted into an un-threaded ferrule that is fastened to the center of the deck lid. It does not use the same threaded ferrule that is bolted to the forward sides of the deck lid. This is what it should look like...
This is what the two forward mounting bolts and threaded ferrules should look like...
Thanks for the link. Even though I never put the hardtop on mine, I do have the center hole in my deck. I have never seen this kit you have listed. I think I will have to pick me one up just to have around, you know, in case I should ever decide to put the top on the car.
