Default How to fight the wave???

Hey guys okay so I have an 80 model vette which still has the original spoiler and after 28 years has really developed some WaVeS. So my question is this- If I replace it before I have it repainted how long will it take for it to become WaVy again? Because Im painting the car BLACK so if I I just repaint the car the without replacing the spoiler the waves will show up real bad.

From the title, I was worried about what wave you were fighting. Good question, though, since my front spoiler looks like a flag on a breezy day.

At the fear fof being labled "bubba"... I have straightened out the wave on my 80 nose by using styrofoam and cutting it and installing it in the nose as backing....actually works quite well and with a little time and patience you can get good results

Install new fiberglass nose and tail pieces. That is what I did, no more waves. Just don't bump into anything.

I believe the "wavyness" of the factory urethane bumpers is quite normal, just think about it as a 30 years old technology! and its what they paid to get over the 3 miles/hours colission rule.

The best thing to do is to have them both replace by a fiber glass pieces, but you have to be careful while driving!

OK, just to clarify, which wavy piece are we talking about:

- Bumper
- Fiberglass chin spoiler
- Rubber air dams (left and right spoilers)

I'm referring to the wavy rubber pieces. Is there an adjustment I can make to get rid of the waves or do I buy a new set from Ecklers or Zip, etc, along with the fasteners and hope a replacement isn't wavy?

I had the same issue with my 80 coupe,I was changing the original color of frost beige to electron blue but also wanted to keep as much of her stock as possible, knowing the blue would show more of the waves,I decided to paint her '06 Velocity Yellow, sure glad I did,the color is awesome and waves are hard to see,of course black would really make them stand out.
