Default Re-build tranny question

My tranny is starting to slip in low gear and I bought A shift kit and The complete re-build kit the question I have is should I put in A new Torque Converter? the fluid smells good and the car only has 45 k miles on it . It sat for a while so I think my seals are starting to go. making it slip in first it grabs fine in all other gears. Thanks in advance.

A torque convertor is pretty cheap insurance IMHO. The cash you spend getting a new/rebuilt may very well be what saves you from pulling it out again.

Don't forget to install a new pump bushing too!

A new converter is probably a good idea, but if you are just doing a stock rebuild and everything is good except for clutches and seals you really only have $100 bucks or whatever in it anyway. If there are no bad hard parts draining the fluid out of the converter, filling it with fluid then draining it again wouldn't bother me any.
