It’s my Birthday today and I have to decide what gift to buy for myself

Trailing arms and wheel baring assemblies

Aluminum radiator and core support

Or a steering rebuild kit

Help me decide what to do...

well thats a hard one, sounds like your ride needs some help... I voted trailing arms...

because you can still drive you car on a copper/brass rad even if the core support is rusted out...

and you dont state why your steering needs a rebuild, perhaps it just leaks?

So its between 1 & 3 IMO, i just happened to vote #1

BTW.. happy B-day

Either get whatever is the most expensive out of the way first, or whatever can be done without having to move something else that needs to be done out of the way. Nothing worse than taking a bunch of parts out to get to something and putting them back, only to have to replace one of them in a couple weeks.

For the most part these are the three remaining “big money” items I need to replace…well maybe a nice set of seatbelts too but I was going to wait until Carlisle for them.

The steering isn’t bad and doesn’t leak but I just wanted to replace it at some point as a preventive precaution.

I would say that the trailing Arms are the most in need of replacement
The radiator and core support are the last items on my car that have rust on them (and the trailing arms) plus an aluminum radiator will look good! (Maybe I’ll wait till Carlisle for the radiator too)

Happy Birthday.

I voted for trailing arms too. Safety should always come first, and if you're suspect enough of the rear suspension to include it in the list then I think it would need to be done before the radiator and core support. The steering is also very important so that should be tied with the rear suspension, but I could only vote for one item and the rear suspension is a big undertaking.

I have already replaced my entire suspension a while ago; I cut corners and reused the trailing arms to save money at the time

Happy B-Day!

It was a tough choice betwee the steering column & the trailing arms - either can be a big issue on the road. I picked the trailing arms.

Good luck & enjoy your day!

This year, get the T/A's...Next birthday (or sooner!), get your steering rebuilt. I HIGHLY recommend Gary Ramadei of Connecticut. I shipped him my box, and it drives brand-new now! Before, it was sloppy slop. I am much happier with the car now.

Here's my box being rebuilt
