Anyone have any recommendations for headers and sidepipes? I'm looking to get the best quality product for the least amount of money... Also i'm not looking for an insanely loud system (i'd still like to be able to hear myself think).
There are just so many options that i want to be sure i make the right decision.
Hooker makes the best. They're a bit pricey, but not outrageous, either. Installation is a breeze, and there's a variety of muffler inserts available (STS spirals, glasspacks, reverse flows, etc.) They're available many places, but Summitracing.com seems to have them the cheapest.
I would suggest Jet-Hot coating whatever you decide. They seem to last longer.
Also do a search for Stahl Headers. THey also make a sidemount system for Vettes. I've not used them, just seen them. I have Hooker's.
I also considered the Jet-Hot coating, but I didn't really care for the dull finish. I went with the Polished Stainless instead, and it's beautiful. No rust, and you can't chip away the coating since there isn't one As far as discoloration, they're a bit gold under the hood, but nothing at all on the outside of the car.
Hooker, most definitely the only thing I did not like were the mounting brackets A little flimsey for my liking. A decent welder can make Aset of adj. chasis mount brackets for you.
If you need more info. and spec.s contact me I made and installed mine

jet hot sterling finish is what i've got, i done the chrome hooker headers n pipes, they sucked, they turn colors upon the 1st startup n the after 4yrs i had to have them dechromed n jethotted due to rust setting in n my vette rests on carpeting in the garage n never sees rain. jethot forever this pic was taken before installation hehe
just back from being jethotted in the sterling finish. BTW i've never had jethot chip away
If you're willing to go this route....Hooker sells a universal kit for about 400 bucks that just connects 1 of the primaries to your manifolds. You just bolt them to the car and connect it with a u bend. So yes, you can tell their not true "header style" pipes if you look under there, but from the side of the car they look the same, except 3 primary tubes are dummy's and the one 2.5 inch pipe hooks up. Probably quieter too. So those may meet your criteria. Patriot also sells a 3.5" version that looks similar to the hookers.
