Holley 650 Mechanical Secondary

I purchased a Holley 650 Carburetor 4777, mechanical secondary, I was told I should have purchased a vacuum secondary carburetor for and automatic transmission. Is this correct and is this a good carburetor for a 383 Stroker Motor?

Why would the type of secondaries matter to the transmission?

Someone's feeding you a line of tschit.

A 650 on a 383 is going to run out of steam at ~5800 RPM.

It's just that some like VS for autos. or for street.
A DP works great for autos. & street when properly sized for the setup.

Agreed, vacuum secondaries are a little easier to deal with because they only open on engine demand. There's nothing stopping you from getting mech. secondaries to work just fine with a street driven auto though.
