Another one of my brain storms has been a fight from the git-go. 1980 Vette needed motor rebuilt, lots of miles. Thought I'd throw in a different motor to get it back on the road and have lots of time to rebuild old motor. The motor I found was a crate engine 350 '95 Vortec. It had the location for the manual fuel pump drilled and tap, seemed to have the hole for the fuel pump push rod, NOT. The hole was not drilled and reamed thru to camshaft, push rod will not go in. So, here's my question: where is a good place to mount an electric fuel pump or where have some of you mounted your pumps? I don't really see a good location at the rear of the car, but know that's where it should go, no room. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
My '71 has an electric Holly pump. The previous owner installed it in the spare tire area on the cross member. The spare tire is no longer there, so there is plenty of room.
When I bought my car it already had an electric fuel pump so I kept it. It's mounted on the rear of the frame, on the outside of the rail, between it and the fender. It's a bellows style pump so it doesn't need a lot of front to back room. I do think though that a long pump would fit there.

I had the same Problem. I have both the Holly, and Mr Gasket.
I used the Mr Gasket because it's small, and it's both a pusher and Puller type.
Holly is quieter though.
Thanks for your help, at least I 'm headed in the right direction now. I removed the spare tire and carrier tonight, looking for a good spot to mount pump. Looking at behind the right rear tire on the outside of frame. Should be hidden there also. I'll keep you posted, Thanks Again.

Yep, that's a good location, but it's kind of hard to get tools in there. If I had to do it myself I would have made brackets that bolt to the bottom of the frame rail but bend up and to the outside where the pump would be. The way it is now it would be very hard to do unless the body was off.
Matt am I crazy or shouldnt the pump be INSIDE the frame rail.Would not A direct hit cause Damage to the pump and possible or is it high enough to prevent A direct hit? Just wondering

Yes, but in that location there is no room for it on the inside of the frame rail. I just have mine in the location it was in when I bought the car. I didn't see any readily available spots that would be better so I just left it.
