Is there any real reason to re-install the transmission lockout from the steering column?
If a thief wants the car, he's going to get it no matter what and probably screw things up in the process.
This car is NOT a complete restoration so I'm not afraid to make some modifications and compromises.
Opinions are appreciated.
Thanks guys.

I don't even have the clutch safety switch hooked up on mine, so I would definitely leave the reverse lockout off too. With no clutch safety switch it makes a lot easier to be working under the hood when you need to start the car frequently.
Bubba removed mine before I even had my car so no you don't need it. Actually it is a cool hidden thing that you can do to prevent someone from taking your car. When you park you can pop the hood and move the lever down by hand. This will lock the wheel even if the trans is out of reverse.
