The OEM cables will eventually rust and break.

I don't think they will stretch at all. Your decision just depends on if you are worried about them rusting or not. My car doesn't go out in rain or snow so I went with the OEM cables. I was surprised how easy these cables are to replace. The old ones came out without a problem and the new ones went in even easier. I was glad I decided to replace them because the old ones were rusted solid.

I went with the OEM cable as well and upgraded the hardware inside to stainless. The last cable lasted 30 years... so 30 years from now, I'll have to replace it again. I'm OK with that.

Same here. I will not have my car in the rain, and I upgraded the workings to stainless just because it was such a pita to replace the parking brake shoes.
