Default Turbo charger

Hi All,

Has Anyone installed/recommend a turbo unit that i can fit onto my lump, Modded engine with 375bhp.

I have been told that it depends on what pistons I have! forged or steel??

Is it difficult and will I have to change the pully system around?

Cheers in advance.

There are lots of different ways you can go with turbochargers, but very few specific kits, especially for a carb application. For lots of ideas, go here:

LOTS of good info. As far as pistons go, forged aluminum are best for a boosted application (any performance application in my opinion).

I'll give you my limited knowledge on the subject.

You won't have to change your pulley system around, because turbos don't use pulleys. You will, however, have to have some sort of custom exhaust manifolds to get the exhaust gasses routed to the turbo, and then some custom plumbing from the turbo to the carb.

Yes, it does depend on what type of pistons you have. You can't run too high of a compression ratio with a turbo, or any forced induction for that matter, otherwise you get into a nasty condition known as detonation. It also depends on the strength of your roatating assembly (crank, rods, pistons) as cast parts can only take so much boost. Forged is much stronger, and therefore can stand up to a lot more pressure.

There's other things you may want to look into as well, like an upgraded fuel delivery system, ignition, etc., before you jump into it.

Thanks for the info

I'm now looking at pro charger (i think that was there name?) apparently they have a very easy bolt on kit and have installed many on C3's.

Has anyone here got/fitted one to theirs and did it make a difference.

Cheers

I put a pro charger on my stock C5 and it now dynos at 475 RWHP. I could not imagine driving my C3 with that much HP although there are people on the forum with 500+ Hp C3's

I built a twin turbo setup for my big block, was a lot of work but it has worked out very well.http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...bovette1-1.jpg
