Last February was changing valve seals in prep for smog testing...leak down indicated problem in #7 cylinder...so pulled heads...thought I'd post up pics of my 78 L82 cracked heads...(137,555 miles)
Not sure,but think this happened due to my distributor weights being frozen some while back..maybe..??.anyway,tossed on some 882 cast heads,passed smog and runs good now...I can save one head,and looking for another 624 cast cylinder head with guide plates...(202 intake)
That area is where those lightweight 462624 castings usually crack.
I'll run the 882's till I decide what I'll do with this engine....just a cruiser,but may go crate later...freakin smog test requirements got me limited,somewhat...but can mod and still pass...
Pretty much ruled out a rebuild...just will jerk it later and store it...
