1981 c3 need help selling
The car is a 1981 Chevrolet Corvette, This vehicle has been in my family since 1984. Unfortunately there are no papers documenting any changes/ updates to the vehicle.
The interior- This car has had the interior restored and an aftermarket head unit put in. the drivers seat is fully electric powered along with the locks and the windows. The dash has been replaced to match the interior. The interior is clean with no rips in the carpet or seats or heat cracks in the dash.
The exterior- Deep red, slight metallic in color sitting on 15” American racing alloy wheels with Dunlop radial tires. I put two new tires up front because they looked worn with two decent tires on the rear. the roof has the glass t-top design with an eagle in the glass on both sides. I don’t know if this is stock or a aftermarket change. There are no cracks in any of the glass windows. The mechanical headlights are fully operational.
Under the hood/chassis- this car has a crate 350 and an Edelbrock 1904 series 4-barrel carb. The engine runs strong and healthy I’m not sure if there is a cam in the motor or not. I don’t believe that any changes have been made to the engine block or heads. There are new brake lines all around and has new brake rotors/ calipers/ pads. The electric fan works and there is nothing leaking from under this vehicle.
Major issues- the odometer is stuck between two and three hundred thousand. I believe my brother tried to reset the odometer when putting the new engine in the vehicle but I’m not positive so I’m not sure of the miles
The antenna motor does not work. This has an aftermarket head unit in it so I believe that the motor is either disconnected or dead.
The front bumper has a few stress cracks in the paint and a few ½ inch chips down to the original primer.
The passenger door also has 2 tiny chips on the paint on the corner of the door.
You can see all the issues in the pics below
So that’s my car. Any info you guys have for me as far as how much I should start asking for this vehicle. I’m looking to sell it rather quickly so with that in mind I’d like to hear what you think. Thanks again –Dan

Aftermarket rims, see bold.
Rear window louvers, see bold.
TTops are etched, again see bold.
your big hit is unreliable mileage, try carfaxing it for some idea.
I'd hazard a guess at a driver quality price of $5-7K

As it sits, the cars a little blingy. Lose the rear window decoration, but include it with the car. Those etched ttops are going to hurt the sale. I wouldn't want them on my car.
Taxachusetts is almost as stupid as California when it comes to smogificating. That might be an issue for a Massachusetts buyer.
I agree that the stock wheels would enhance your chances of selling for more money, but those wheels are better than a lot of aftermarkets. I would put them on my 81 and not care what others had to say about them. (but they are period wheels)
I've said it before. What's worth 10k in Ohio could be 16k in some other zip codes and only 6k in others.
A Fast sale usually means you're willing to take a hit in the wallet.
I usually don't criticize people's cars, but in your case you are asking for help selling the car. So please don't take any of my comments personally.
Excluding the interior and eagle tops, you have a decent looking car based on what you show us (need pics of engine bay and underneath). That interior needs major work and imo is the major reason it wont sell or you will take a beating on it. To try and pass that off as custom is a joke. Not only does it look bad, but the workmanship is way past bubba's worst.
You need to decide on one color or the other cause the cinnebar on black aint working. A couple hundred spent on the interior could gain you 1-2k on the car.
It just barely passed the smog sniffer test (with a lot of test time tweaking by the guy testing it)
When I moved to Denver in 97, they wouldn't even test it till the air pump was reinstalled.
