Default C-3 Owners Please Help...........................

I am lookin to purchase a c-3 to add to my collection. I am going to look at a 1976 red with black int. Is there anthing about a c-3 that are trouble signs that I can look for. Any pointers would be helpful to make sure I don't get taken...

Check for rust in the birdcage.

You know we should really have a sticky for:

"What to look for when buying a C3"

This question seems to come up almost daily.

Usually the next question is "What's the bird cage".

The most important thing to look at is the birdcage( the steel frame that surrounds the passengers compartment and the Chassis, inspect the area where the frame kicks up right in front of the rear wheels and check the frame side rails. The sevenities were the worst for frame rust and damage. And it's none of my business, but I wouldn't be looking at a 76. They weren't well built and had miminal power. you'd be better off with say a 73 or earlier. they cost only a little bit more but are much more a collectable corvette. NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE 76! and a number of my fellow club members have beautiful restored 76's even with the Vaga steering wheel. Buy the best car you can. And if the body panals don't fit so well, ignore it. none of them fit very good even with the panals on my 79 they don't match up too good. Just the way it is. Also try to get a car that is as original as possible. IMHO
