Popping!!!!

My engine is backfiring and popping when I take my foot off accelorator? I made it richer but still backfiring.

HELP? Is there a limit to how rich I can make it?
What else can it be?

More info:
75 l48 350 all stock exept edlbrock performer manifold with stock qjet and 2 1/2 inch true dual to twochambered flowmasters.

This just started happening, on deceleration. I made the carb richer with the dial on the passanger side of the carb.

Is this happening at idle or when RPM’s are decelerating?

Its popping or backfiring on deceration.

I'd say you need to lean it down some. Popping is usually the burning off of unused fuel as it travels the length of the exhaust system. That's my two cent's anyway.

You talking about that big black one??
Thats the choke adjustment. Mixture screws are under the front of the carb. Enrichening the mixture screws will not solve your problem.
As asked prior is it popping back thru the carb or out the exhaust?
