I rebuilt the front suspension on my 79. Had the springs sandblasted and didn't know to mark the spring which was top and bottom. How do I know which is the top and bottom? Also, the car is real tight and sits about an 1 1/2" to high on the side that is seated properly. Can I take a rotary grinder and cut some of the spring off, and if so, how do I make sure that both spring are equal? I don't have the other side off. I can only do one side at a time. My budget is gone and and need to work with what I have. I know that big block springs would make it lower, but budget gone.

Thanks for your time and advice

When installing the spring, the end with the coils closer to each other needs to go up in the frame pocket, when lining it up, make sure the bottom end of the coil is lined up between the two holes on the lower a-arm..then it should sit even and it sets in..
