Default Quick question, is this right or wrong?

Is this supposed to have an indent or is it a dent?

They're brand new, first time I have taken them out of the box...got them last year.

The Hookers I took off did not have that indent, but they are probably 30 yrs old though, so is this how they come now or did I get a bad header?

Thanks

Just out of curiosity, if you or anyone else knows, about how long ago did they start putting that indent on the headers?
Like I said, the ones I took off, which are ceramic coated, did not have it and they are from early to mid '70's.

Also, I had no problems clearing the steering box, which makes me wonder the real need for the indent.
Or is it for the chrome coated only, so you don't scratch them?

Thanks
