I just got my windshield wiper arm cover from Ecklers and the installation says to use Velcro or pop rivets. I was wondering how everyone else has installed theirs. Has anyone used Velcro and did it work Ok?
I just bought mine from Corvette Central. When I test fit it before velcroing it in place, I see that the wiper linkage on the pass. side hits the bottom of it and the top of the wiper arm scrapes on the drivers side. Is it normal to have to cut a lot out for clearance? The directions don't say anything about the wipers hitting the cover.
I bought one and it looks to me like it isn't a very good fit. I'm wondering if it is one of those things that either fits your car real good or you just wasted your money.
I think you're all right on target. Mine is a '75, I didn't mention that. Here's how I see the problem now with all your input:
This piece of plastic is made to try to fit a range of years, so it doesn't fit any of them correctly. You will have to cut to fit the best you can and then velcro in place. Sound about right?

Hello I bought this for my 73 and it fit perfectly. I also bought one for my 75 and had to trim it for the wiper blade assembly. I dont know what the difference is in the two years, or if there was a difference in the molding process. But in either case I think it looks great.
75 begore
I haven't put mine on my '81 yet, but I'm going to use molding tape to adhear mine to the car . I know of one guy that used small screws but I don't want to do any drilling
It fits pretty well, with no trimming, on my 80. I have had it on for about 4 years, and it lays flat wioth no attachments. I do wish the plastic was a lttle heavier.
Finished installing mine. I did have to grind out some for clearance. Velcroing down the front edge isn't a problem. This cover barely overlaped the windshield and the ends stuck up. I did get some thin strips of velcro between them to hold it down. It hasn't got wet yet though.
I just got mine installed tonight. I used velcro and did not have to do any trimming on the cover itself, it fit like a glove.
Who was the vendor for your wiper compartment cover?
I just bought one from MAMotorworks, made by PALCO INDUSTRIES, a Dashtop part #232, and it did not fit properly. It was a different design than the one I had used years earlier and hit the wiper motor bellcrank, rising up about 3/4 when tested with the wipers operating. Below is a photo showing both - my old one, which is like yours, but the new one is a different design which doesn't work:
The old one, even though it fit properly, started cracking after a couple of years, and is just thin plastic without reinforcing like fiberglass has. Its durability was very poor. The new one is even thinner and will probably suffer from durability problems too, even if it did fit! Why doesn't any vendor make one which fits and is durable???
To the defense of MAMotorworks, they agreed to refund all money on this bad part, however, I do need to find who makes a good design.

I have a 76 and with a little cutting, it fit perfectly. I fastened it with velcro ond never looked back. I looks a lot better than it did without the cover. I ordered mine from Willcox, if memory serves.
No pictures, but I got mine from Mid America for the same $49.99 and used velcro. Hood closes tight like its right up against the cover. But I like it. BE SURE to paint the well before putting it on. Otherwise you will still see the dirt through the wiper holes. No bueno.
