after I finished shaving and giving mine a bikini wax to get rid of all the loose fibers from the old underlayment, I found laquer thinner and an old rough towel took the old contact glue right up. Had to scrub it a little bit but it came right off. Dont soak the floor with the thinner, all your paint will start to let go. Just get it good and damp and scrub with the towel and it should come off. Worked for me anyway!
