Default zz4 question again

Good Corvette folks, I have a couple of questions again re: ZZ4 install.
I'm in the process of putting the carb, water pump, etc. on the new motor. I noticed that the fuel pump opening is not shaped the same as the Edelbrock fuel pump. Does this engine require a mounting plate and push-rod along with the pump? Nowhere in GMPP information is this clear.
I am also wondering about using the original ram's horn exhaust manifold with the D shaped exhaust ports. I need to drill out the mounting holes in the manifolds because the rusted bolts snapped where the old exhaust pipe donuts bolt to the manifold. Am I wasting my time or will these manifolds work okay in lieu of headers. I have just about spent as much as I have reserved for the car so far, so if I can save a couple of C-Notes I would like to. I already have the dual exhaust system purchased from Corvette Central configured for stock manifold connections. If I went with headers, which ones will work with the D shaped ports and a connector fitted for stock exhaust pipes? I read that someone had installed Hedman and someone else installed Patriot headers. Can anyone please let me know the respective part numbers and where they purchased them? As always, thanks for the help and great information sharing. J

If all you have is a cast opening in the side of the block, there is another plate that you need, as well as a fuel pump pushrod. If I remember correctly, the newer ZZ4s have Fast Burn heads...if these are what you have (with the D-ports as you mentioned), the old manifolds might not have enough meat around the top of the port to adequately seal. This is an issue with some headers, too. If they are the older ZZ4 heads (the C4 Vette style heads), you shouldn't have a problem. Someone with direct experience with these heads will probably chime in.

I have a ZZ4 in my 78. The fuel pump port needs the rod and backing plate, it's not included. Also, the oil filter will need the bolt on adapter, which is also not included. I used original exhaust manifolds bolted to the D-port heads. I've heard you need to gasket match these to the heads by grinding the top of the exhaust manifold port. I did not do this, mine are working fine with no leaks. I'm probably sacrificing some performance by not porting them, as well as using them instead of headers in the first place. Since I alsready had a brand new stock 2.5" exhaust system in the car, I wasn't going to change it, till it rusts out. The engine coupled to a ST-10 4 speed runs real strong, I'm not dissapointed at all! This blasted edlebrock 1411 carburetor I bought for it is a different story.....

I went with Patriot D-port shorty headers but they do not hook up to the original exhaust without fabrication. The outlets are lower and closer to the engine.

kyeakel is right on with the oil filter adapter. I used the adapter from my original L-48. I also used the fuel pump plate and push rod from my original engine.

Thanks again folks. I ordered the fuel pump plate and push rod and already have the oil filt waterer adapter from my old engine. Since the Patriot headers, (they look very cool) need to be fabricated to some extent, I believe that I'll see what Hedman are like. If not, I'll just keep working on the stock manifolds. I bought the Jegs chromed cast ironCorvette shorty water The starter, alternator and Taylor spiral core wires are due tomorrow and the Demon carb and feed is mounted. We're getting close. Thanks again to all for the help. J
