Peace,,,Moosie
Heading south on I -65, coming back from Bowling Green after a trip to the NCM in my '82, my youngest daughter riding shotgun - she was 9 at the time. I had just explained how a trucker would blow their air horn if she pumped her fist in the air.
We spotted an 18 wheeler ahead and decided to give it a try. I pulled in behind the truck fast, getting his attention (safely of course) and swung into the passing lane. I got off the throttle just as we came abreast of his window. I could see him through the glass T-tops and a big ole grin came across his face as he saw my daughter pumping her fist in the passenger seat. He laid down a nice long blast from the air horn and gave us a thumbs up...my daughter clapped, I waved and nailed the throttle, passing the truck.
My daughter leans up in her seat, as she could barley see over the dash and spots another truck just ahead. "Dad", she says, "think we can catch that one?" ...
needless to say we "caught" every 18 wheeler on I-65 between Bowling Green and Huntsville Alabama that day. Great memory!
Good luck and keep her sunny side up there good buddy!
It's less 'pumping your fist' than simulating how drivers have to pull a horn cord above the driver's side door. I started doing that motion to trucks as a 10 year old kid after seeing Smokey and the Bandit in the theater and seeing multiple drivers blowing the horn via that method. I couldn't believe it worked!

Now you'll have to report back when you find those "deals in the weeds" while cruising around the country....
I drove a semi for several years myself (produce, dry goods & flat). Covered every state in the US, every province in Canada and a couple short trips down Mexico way....
I did stop alongside the road, down in Georgia, one time so I could check out an old pick-up. I had seen this old truck many, many times, but there was either no time to stop, or no one around, but this one time this old guy was sitting on the front porch.
I walked up and asked about the truck, he replied "it doesn't run, hasn't in years. Ain't much count. You want it?".....
Four days later I had a 1953 Ford PU for free.....

Honestly, if I knew that, I did not remember.
Sorry to open the wound, but I didn't realize you and your wife had fallen on such hard times.I do hope all goes well for you and yours as well.
1. You are not allowed into Yellowstone National Park with semi...
2. Driving through Indian Reservations is frowned on....
3. Yes, there is ice on the road in Big Sky in April....
4. You really do need a "jake brake" if you go from I-15 to Denver via I-70 with a full load....
5. If you drive south from Houma, La. it can become a bit problematic...
Sadly with big orange you won't get these fine opportunites....
