Anyone know if a set of C4 seats can be "broken down for shipping?
I won a set on Ebay which stated shipping would be $100.00 (Kentucky to NC) and now, after the fact I'm being told that I need to send another $65.00 because the seller was "misquoted" by UPS.
It sounds like the seller is trying to put them in some big box without breaking them down, or is trying to rip me a new one on the shipping charges.
Anyone have some idea here?
P.S. The Ebay acution stated $100.00 for shipping (which is a bit too high anyway), and I am certainly not paying more than that.

Actually he probably did not get "misquoted" by UPS. What he probably did was to go by weight only. Many times Large Items go by "Dimensional Weight" which means the weight that size box would normally hold. I run into this all the time when shipping hoods and long pieces. If he does not want to honor the shipping cost suggest that he take them to Greyhound. They will be probably Less than $100 that way. I had a C3 hood shipped to me from CA to GA for only $125.
Either way do not pay more than agreed to in listing. Or report him.
It is the only way he will learn to do his research before selling something.
Ebay is no different than any other business. Some good and some stupid.
Good luck.

It's been a couple years, but I've shipped them for about $70 for a pair - two boxes. If I remember what I did correctly, you can get the hinge pin(s) out which lets the seat back lay flat on the base, greatly reducing the size.

I shipped two C3 seat. I took them apart at the hinge and shipped them in two boxes along with two other parcels VIA USPS and it cost me $83 US for everything.
I had a set shipped to me for under $100. with the tracks, one electric, from California to Missouri. They were not broken down and in one box. About a year and a half ago. Maybe the gas prices have something to do with it, but he may just be taking them to a shipper and having them do the boxing and all, which, of course, they charge for.
I've had C4 seats with the tracks and all electrical crap to go with shipped to me and it was about $100... I've also had C4 seats without the tracks and electrical stuff sent to me for $65. I think the seller is ripping you off.

C4 seats come apart. There are three hex bolts on each side of the frame where they pivot. The actual pivots are riveted. But the seat back frame can be taken off of the bottom frame in a few minutes.
I bought 80's C3 seats, driver side was electric a cpl of months ago. The shipping was quoted to me for $50 which I thought was too low. They came a few days later and that was the shipping price. It was from GA to TX. The seats came in 2 lg boxes. Tell him to ship them freight or find another way for the agreed shipping price. Might try greyhound.
My guess is that he didn't get what he expected on ebay and wants to get it thru shipping. It is the sellers resposibility for the posting so I'd expect him to honor it.
Let me guess....you got them for little or nothing, now the seller is raising shipping to recoup the losts
But like the others said, if they break the seats down so they lay flat against each other in two boxes, your looking at no more than $35 each to ship.
i got a set of c-3 seats shipped the guy put one on top of the other than wrapped in clear plastic then tied the hole mess together, it was rufly 60 to ship from colorado to new york
