Default Squeaky rear rotor :(

I replaced the rear rotors on my Vette. I shimmed them, so runout isn't more than .002. It's more like .001, which is within spec.

The right rear rotor starts cyclically squeaking, especially after it's been driven a few miles. Do I have a dragging caliper? The calipers are 1 year old, O-ring style.

Heading off to O.C. Maryland in about 10 days and don't want to pull into town sounding like a washing machine...Thanks.

Could possibly be the emergency brake pads rubbing slightly. How far do you need to pull the handle before they grab?

U-joints are <2 yrs.old.

Parking brake - about 1/2-2/3 before it drags, and about 90% to lock them completely.

As I'm driving, if I depress the brake pedal, it stops.

Sounds like a brake pad. Rotor may be slightly warped and rubs the pad with each rotation, but disappears with brakes engaged.

Hi Mark....hope you been doing well.

My 72 made a similar noise...UNTIL...pressure was applied to the pedal. It was annoying. I took that rotor and had it "turned". The shop said it was not warped, but it stopped the clicky clacky noise.

Could be brake pad glazing - when was the last time you replaced the pads

I hate to have it turned, since I spent all that time shimming it to the hub. What is garnet paper? Is that like emery cloth? The pads are new with the calipers, less than 2 years old, less than 2k miles.

Maybe I'll try shimming it again and get it "perfect". Ugh.
