Yeah we've got a fully decked out Reeses cup car, Pepto Bismol, and M&M's in this area. This is like a cross between gansta rides, NASCAR and 4x4's? What stinks is I have a 78 Cutlass, 415ci 4-speed, it used to be kind of a sleeper and an unusual car to hot rod. Now kids stop me in parking lots saying I should Donk it, etc. I feel like smackin' them.

I wish I had that much money to put in a car that is worth it... my 79, that needs a paint job something fierce!

Those are still a bit big for my tastes but it's far more tolerable than the car up top.

This reminds me of of the cars that come out of that show "Pimp My Ride". I can't stand seeing a classic car turned into one of these.

I also remember the day of the 14" bias ply tires on Camaros.

There's an authoritative publication on the subject appropriately named "Boxes, Bubbles and Donks" Actually, gentlemen, as a OG from Oak Town, I believe that mo fo be a Im-Pala.

Yes, you are correct thats a bubble not a box. Boxes are the 80's caprices/monte's/regals etc. I'm pretty sure but not positive that the term "donk" refers to bubbles and boxes as an entire genre of cars. There's a a Grand Marquis here in STL (@ jiffy lube on the st charles rock rd. for the locals) that is built on a custom tube frame it has 30" THATS RIGHT 30" wheels!!! I hope it has a rope ladder to drop down from the door sill cuz that thing is waaaay up there. like to my head at the door sills. No lie.

"Donk" refers to the early 70s Impala/Monte Carlo body style. The "Donk" name comes from the Impala logo, which someone thought looked like a kicking donkey.

On the Rock, that doesn't surprise me at all.

Here is the official definition of DONKS, BOXES and BUBBLES:

Donk: Mid-70's Impala, Caprice and MOnte Carlo or any mid-70's ride with a sloping tail.

Boxes: Mid-80's Impala, Caprice and MOnte Carlo or any mid-80's ride with a boxy rear clip.

Bubbles: 90's Caprices and IMpalas, 90's rides that are rounded on both ends.

Wow!!! You guys are mean!!! It's definitely not my cup of tea, but I respect the right of the owner to his own expression. I see them all the time in Central Illinois. It's just something different.

Yeah I am in the Bay with you and when I head through East Palo Alto to hit the Dumbarton bridge you see a ton of these. I would say Buicks seem to be the car of choice to "pimp out" from what I see. (On a side note, the police cars they have in EPA look awesome! Those new Dodge Chargers with the General Lee stye front bumper-guard...I love them!)

I think these types of cars is why I hate aftermarket chrome rims. I don't want to ever be confused with one of these guys! Make my aftermarket rims polished aluminum or something along those lines!

Here too, and many Crown Vic's done that way also. Stupid as an intentional statement of one's personal style!?! I don't get it and don't want to.
