I'm upgrading my sound system (amp, 5 1/4 component speakers and a new head unit), and although I've got the new stereo to work and the amp power up and everything is as it should be........ I want to know if anyone can tell me for sure that the wires I'm touching with my ring finger and middle fingers are indeed the remote wire (light blue) and the + battery wire (yellow).
Obviously I know where the red and black wires go. But when I started going through the wires I realised the previous owner had spliced the red power wire on that harness into a black wire that dissapeared into the main wiring harness.
When I powerd everthing up (without the seats in, although I don't know why that would make a difference). Everything worked and sounded good until I removed the key.......... The warning buzzer sounded, and the new stereo's motorized face unit opened. The buzzer is what's confused me.
It was attached to what i assume would have been the stock Kenwood pictured below. Maybe the problem lies here with the way I've hooked it up, maybe it's just the key warning buzzer acting up and the stereo is supposed to do that............ Anyone got any thoughts??

just an FYI - The original GM radio would have "keyed" holes that match the black connectors you are holding so that when installing the connectors, they cannot be installed in the wrong hole. If you are wanting to go back to a stock original radio, you are lucky - most of the time aftermarket installers cut those plugs off and throw them away and then you are cutting and splicing and have a real mess trying to back to original.

Correct. The aftermarket Kenwood shown comes with the Corvette compatable wiring harness so you just unplug the original and plug in the new. Very painless.
