Default USC Duraglass

I just finished putting a hood scoop on my sons 90 vette. I used sems 2 part smc adhesive to bond the two pieces and then USC Duraglass to fill in the gaps and radius the scoop into the hood so it looked like one piece. After reading some of the problems with SMC repairs I wanted to make sure I was going to be ok before applying epoxy primer and start the blocking process. Any advice would be appreciated. I would rather grind it out now if it is not right rather than after painting.

It is not recommended for SMC, their tech sheet says for decorative use only on SMC since it will not be a very good bond. I would shoot the epoxy primer first and then apply your Duraglass or simply use an epoxy filler to begin with.

Thanks for the info. If I'm reading you right I thinking I should be ok since the actual bonding of the scoop was done using SEMS 2 part panel adhesive. The Duraglass was just used to form a radius between the scoop and hood.

If it were me, I'd grind it off and redo it. Just think of the vibration and heat cycles that a hood is subjected to, I don't think it would take much time for it to start to crack or lift around the scoop. SMC contains release molding release agents so nothing except epoxy sticks to it very well. Just my 2 pesos.
