Does anyone know if the '78 Corvette came with a Build Sheet located on the top of the gas tank from the factory? If there is one on mine in this location, then how can I know for certain before dropping my gas tank? Is there a way to reach up there and feel for it and possibly fish it out, instead of dropping the tank? Thanks.
you can reach up from underneath the car and feel for it...it is on the top of the tank...front...right...if you want it in one piece, you must drop the tank
You may be able to obtain a copy of the dealer invoice for your Corvette. The dealer invoice is essentially the same as the tank sticker, but has more information on it, including the original dealer, date the car was shipped, prices, options, etc.

That is what I did for my 1980. My build sheet was intact but VERY faded. The dealer invoice has got much the same information e.g. dealer info and options.
I HAVE DISMANTLED SEVERAL 1977, 1978 AND 1979 WRECKED CORVETTES AND HAVE FOUND BUILD SHEETS STUFFED IN THE BRACKET THAT BOLTS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DIFFERENTIAL. THESE WERE NOT IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WAY BACK WHEN. THIS WAS ON MY 1978 SILVER ANNIVERSARY.
