... a co-worker of mine has a WHITE 78 L-48 AUTO,AIR,PW, PB,PS. 55K ORIGINAL MILES, TAN INTERIOR, #S MATCHING (I BELIEVE). ? WHAT SHOULD HE BE ASKING??????? MORE INFO TO COME
If it is in always garaged "like-new" condition and hasn't been repainted or modified, then it is a would be a good "survivor" candidate.
In this case, I think it could be worth upwards of $15K or so. Especially if it got officially judged as a survivor.
If modified and not that great of shape, the value will be way, way lower.

IT IS ALWAYS GARAGED. IT HAS BEEN RE PAINTED. NO MODS THAT I KNOW OF. NEVER BEEN JUDGED

The re-paint definitely devalues the car. Probably wouldn't qualify as a survivor.
I would question why an always garaged 55K car would need a paint job.
Maybe an accident? Maybe left in the sun enough to wear the paint out?
It the car is still really, really nice and doesn't seem to have any issues with the frame, birdcage, water leakage or mechanical troubles, then I would guess 10 to 12K. Deduct from that anything that looks worn or like it could be trouble.

I BELIVE IT HAD MINOR DAMAGE. I DONT THINK THE WHOLE CAR WAS SPRAYED. MORE INFO AFTER 6PM.
sorry about the cap-locks. take 2 advil and call me in the morning. ok. so here it is..... 1978 L-48 auto with 55k original miles. garage kept. white with a tan interior. original motor, trans, air ps pw mufflers were done in 03 master cylinder and 4 calipers done in 07 recent tune up. not driven daily just on nice days. he has owned it since 96. his cousin is the original owner and was hit in the rear quarter. that is the reason for the paint job. yes the whole car was painted. i wasnt sure before. what do you think he can get for it.???? oh its got a garmin radio and diferent mag wheels from a different year
You can use the classic cars tab at the top of the page to do your own estimates.
Also, keep in mind that something is only worth what you can get for it. If your co-worker is looking to unload the vehicle fast, then the phrase "priced to sell" should be paramount to your advice. If he or she wants to get the max value for the vehicle, the C3 corvettes are rapidly increasing in value. This means that the longer they wait to sell, the more the car could potentially be worth.
