I am looking for a metal cutter for removing the old exhaust from my car. What tool do you use for this?
Will a receprocation saw work? if yes, what kind?
I spent 4 hours this weekend trying to pull out the old pipes without damaging them. Looks like I may have to cut it off.

If its for a one time use a reciprocating saw is kind of expensive but its quick and easy with it, plus it can have all kinds of other uses around the house/shop . I have both plug in and cordless. Dewalt makes a good cordless, whatever brand you get I would get at least an 18 volt minimum if you go cordless. Plus some bi- metal 6 or 8 inch blades and go to cutting!
But get some good blades, the ones that come in the Harbor Freight ones are junk.
Quality blades will make the job a piece of cake. I am a little biased but use Lenox blades. I have worked for them for 22 years and have yet to see a better blade. Here is just a small sampling of some of the recip blades. A 618R or 624R will make short work of exhaust pipes.
If you are only going to use it occasionally, the Harbor freight reciprocating saw is actually pretty decent. I agree about the blades though. Invest in something of better quality. The Milwaukee blades work extremely well. The "torch" bimetal blades cut better than anything else I have used. They will make quick work of your exhaust project no matter what saw they are in.
