Default 1976 Automatic Shift Console

I'm putting the shift console back together and I am missing the "black out spacer" that goes under the shift indicator lense before the support bracket is screwed into place. A search of all the catalogs did not show this part, just the shift indicator lense. Does anyone know what this spacer is made of or where to get one.

Thanks.

Bump, hasn't anyone else ever changed out the shift indicator lense?

Not sure what you are calling a spacer. There is an upper and lower slider for the AT cars.

All the Corvette aftermarket providers carry these.

Thanks for the replies guys but it is not one of the flexible seals for around the shift handle. This piece supports the lense to the right of the shift handle.

According to page 306 of the AIM, it is GM part number 3990800 (plate) that is installed beneath the lense with the white lettering on it, or as the AIM calls it, "dial GM 6262643". The dial and plate are then held in place by the zinc plated retainer (GM 3000799) which also houses the indicator bulb. This is then screwed into the console plate by the ash tray.

Without the plate, you can see through the clear lense to the zinc retainer.

I made a PDF of the AIM page if anyone wants to post it.

Hey Scott,

it's a thin strip of metal that's painted black. I repainted mine when I took the console apart. It would be pretty easy to fabricate one if you can't locate a replacement. As I remember it's no winder than the clear plastic lens and extends just far enough to reach the screw holes.
