Default Generator Light

On my 79 the generator light has started to "glow" during normal operation. I disconnect the battery when leaving the car for more than a few days and the first time this happened I loosened and reconnected the battery. This resolved the situation for a few days but the light is now "glowing" steadily. The voltmeter shows a normal charge operation. Any idea as to what might be causing this and how it can be resolved.

Thanks

are you having any other gauge issues? have you tried a volt meter at the batter and at the alternator? if so, what readings are you getting? if you reconnected the cables and it helped, you may have corrosion at the battery terminals, in which case you may just need to clean the terminals. if you are getting below 14 on meter, you may wanna take the alternator to your nearest autozone/other parts store and have it checked for free.

Like FB007 said have alternator checked. Sounds like the diode trio could be bad. Easy enough to replace
