T-45 for a Chevy?
My TH-400 no longer has third gear and I'm looking into the manual swap (I've got another post searching for parts). Anyway, the shop I took my Vette to said he had a fresh rebuilt T-45 that came off a Chevy 305 that was built well and should hold for $600. The guy ordered the build and then never showed so he needs to offload it. I've never heard of a T-45 on a chevy, thought that was a ford trans only. This one wasn't particularly built for power just a good rebuild, but he says that it's a strong tranny. As far as I know it's about the same as a T-5, is the swap the same? How strong are these? I have a 440hp 383ci in my 74.

I just read that these were used in RS Camaro's for awhile... Perhaps where this one came from. The good part would be ease of conversion in that it should bolt right up and use a standard clutch. I wonder if the output yoke is the same for a ford?
